Random Question
Since VWK isn't an enchantment spell couldn't I just have a secondary weapon set with 20/20 wand and 20/20 focus and cast vwk and switch back to ffs/focus? Would that work?

Not very sure, but I believe it'll make the Ashes drop when you switch weapon.

I see that a couple guys are having issues with the VK in rheas. Ive been tweeking the build around and I have come up with a modification that will solo Rhea's with no deaths.

Ill follow it up with screen shots but this is basically what you do.

Build: Modded VK Rt
Rt/Me

Inspiration 9
Illusion 9
Restoration 16

[Arcane Echo][Resilient Weapon][Vengeful Was Khanai][Vengeful Weapon][Sympathic Visage/Ancestors Visage][Mantra Of Resolve][Physical Resistance][Mend Body And Soul]

Leave the northern exit of levithian pits, follow it to the right over the bridge and into rhea's crater. Onec you enter rhea's crater move to the top of the cliff on the right. There will be 4 oni that spawn in the back corner.

Before you trigger their spawn hit physical resistence then slowly start to move to where they will spawn. As soon as you see red blips appear on the radar, *IMMEDIATLY* hit sv/av. It should cast before the oni finish casting shadow shroud.

Soon after you do this they will start to approach you, soon as they move hit echo, then vengeful. By the time they take their first swipe at you, you should have VK activated. The fist attack is normally jagged strike and you should have enough energy even with the ashes up to cast resilient weapon (so do it asap). From there you should be in the green and the oni's energy will be at 0 giving you free reign to cast away. (this is how I deal with all oni)

After that group cast arcane echo and proceed to aggro all the outcasts that are patroling (not the ones by the boss). Once a deathhand comes close to you during the aggro process you *must* cast VK otherwise he will strip echo with chillbains. Once you get the first VK up and you have some spare energy, once again hit resilient weap before the sins can finish their combo.

Now comes the tricky part, because the sins have wild strike they will take any stance off you so you cannot put mantra of resolve up right away. So the trick is to wait the fraction of a second before the first cast VK expires, then hit mantra of resolve and the echo preped VK at the same time. That is the key, if you hit them both at the same time you will not get interupted and you will have enough energy to be able to cast the #2nd VK.

Once the 2nd vk is up you're home free, the sins will be the first to die (which are the primary interupters) and you can finish the rest with vengeful weap.

After you clear the first mob move up to the far left path and clear the two groups at the T intersection just ahead. After them clear the 3 groups just prior to the oni bridge using the same tactic mentioned earlier.

Once those groups are gone is time for the two oni groups. Please note you do not need to take both groups at a time, its only prefered.

For this part the trick is to get your aggro line just short of aggroing them (as close as you can get). From there hit phy resistence and wait.... for about 10secs and the oni will move to the other side of the bridge either spawning the other group of oni or not. (its random)

If it spawns the other group quickly follow the oni as they move (without aggroing them) and when the second group is about to converge hit sv/av then echo then VK in as rapid succession as you can following with Resilient weap. For this part its best to start this process by the time you reach the start of the bridge (thats normally where the two groups converge on you). From there laugh and wait and finish the rest.

If they dont spawn use the non oni spawned technique mentioned earlier and the other group will go down. Finally once this area is cleared your inventory should be full and you need to head back to town. However if you are heading back to lev pits use /resign as not to trigger anti-farm.

Sometimes when I grab the ashes my Energy will drop to zero immidiatly.
This isn't that strange though. However, I can see the +4 pips of Energy I should gain. But I only get my first energy at around 5 seconds or longer.
Though every 1 pip should take 3 seconds before it gives me energy.
Meaning, 4 pips of energy should give me at least 1 energy per second.
So... is this a bug? I don't think it's lag because I don't really lag that much at all. And it doesn't flip from zero to 5 energy or so. It just stays zero energy for about 5 + seconds.

This is because by holding the ashes you are no longer holding your weapon, and lose the energy that you had before. This will sometimes send your energy into negetive energy which is what you were seeing when you belived that your energy is bugged.

great build, does more then what my previous ritualist farming build does. question though...how do you get to the smite crawlers in the underworld? I've tried it with illusion of haste as seen but keep getting caught by the aatxe, even with using it in succession to keep from getting crippled.

any ideas? suggestions?

Heres my little contribution. No idea if anyone else has done this already. In case you people out there didnt know, VWK farming works for the entire of perdition rock as well.

If you can be bothered to get your Rt there, like I did, heres the build.

Rt/Me

16 rest 10 insp (if u want illusion haste go ahead put some points into it. doesnt really matter aside from the 16 restoration)

Skillbar goes something like this-

VWK (E)
Arcane echo
Elemental Resist
Physical Resist
Hex Breaker (not 100% necessary if you know what you doing, but helps)
Soothing Memories
Vengeful Weapon
Any Mesmer Interrupt of your choice (i like the one that gives back energy)

Basically you can clear out all the mobs there.

1. Mahgo Hydras.
All you gotta do is dodge the Meteor Showers until they engage you in melee, hit arcane, VWK, and kite when they cast pheonix. Its hard to get right, but if you perfect this, Mahgos are no problems

2. Phantoms
Hit Vengeful weapon why carrying a caster weapon.. this is to prevent it from spamming signet of midnight (while blinded he cant hit you). Do not use VWK... he will use midnight if you do.

3. Drakes
Use ele resist, and just play normally. They're the easiest to kill anyway.

4. Flesh Golems
Engage with physical resistance on, and precast arcane before meeting them. If not, they'll lingering curse and you lose your 2nd VWK. Otherwise not much problems. Possibly they'll raise minions if you fail to interrupt them, but just hold on and you'll do fine.

5. Dark Flame Dryders
Engage with hex breaker on (they sometimes randomly cast soul leech, but highly unlikely if you are having a melee weapon. they seem to get fooled and think you're not a caster) and play normally. Dont panic if health drops too much. Just hit soothing and vengeful when necessary and you'll do fine. Troublesome critters and waste of time though.

Basically the entire perdition rock not occupied by mursaat can be cleared. Some bosses are impossible to kill, others are do-able. Drops are decent (quite a number of golds) and if you know what to do with each collectable drop, its quite profitable.

This is a challenge-farm, because of the amount of time required to clear all of the island, and while you may find UW or FOW or anywhere else more profitable in terms of time, this is pretty decent and rather fun in comparison.

Can solo Whispering Ritual Lord aswell in Silent Surf with VwK. Take Mantra of Frost, Conjure Phantasm and Illusion of Haste. Illusion of Haste is for running past the Oni if your not in the mood to fight them each run.

The key is to wait one walk cycle so that Whispering Rit Lord is alone.. its easier to lure him away then without other mobs following. He does cold damage, so his attack will give you energy if you use Mantra of Frost.

Very nice build, seems like a much better version of something I was already trying out. I dont think I would have ever thought to bring the two visage skills.

Also, very nice taste in music

In answer to the guy who asked about griffons... Scarabs is absolutely no problem with a rit. In fact I actually go outside amoon oasis and just farm them. Drops are so much better than trolls. The trick is to cast Echo before you even move because they disenchant. Their disenchant is a touch skills so just cast VwK before they get into touch range. You have to spam Vengefull weapon or a heal though because their Vamp skills drains your health pretty fast.

On Shreader... Dont know why you would want to farm him because his green has absolutely no value. If I happen to kill Shreader then I normally go to Shing Jea monastary and give it away to newbies. Here is the build I run:

Attributes
Resto 16
Illusion 9
Domination 9
A high illusion is not needed if you have both visages. Just as the one is about to run out you cast the next one. No need to stack them because you want to aggro as many vermin at the same time as possible. If you have 12 attacking you they lost all their energy in the first round anyway. Stacking is just overkill.

Skills:
Echo
VwK
Vengefull Weapon
Healing of your choice
Visage
Visage
Empathy

First kill the 4 roaming patrols before you get to the bridge. Now get onto the bridge and select Shreader as your target. Dont do anything yet! Wait for a while untill you see Shreader is surrounded by at least 12 vermin. You shouldnt have to wait long, but make sure that your run to Shreader is not blocked by other vermin. Cast echo and run to them. Cast VwK just after they enter your bubble, but BEFORE they reach you. If you timed it correctly you will have enough time to cast the first visage. Now wait untill you notice that they dont to special attacks anymore. Immediately cast Empathy on Shreader. By that time it should be time to recast VwK and your last visage. When the VwK starts blinking again recast if any of them is still alive (they normally die before you can cast the third time). If you left the Empathy too late Shreader. Just cast VwK for the last time and spam vengefull weapon. You will probably have to use your selfheal if the other vermin is dead since shreader has some nasty degen that he dishes out. Voila, Shreader dead in under a minute.

This is also the build I use for any melee boss. Some people would say that Empathy is not strictly needed, but why make it harder than it has to be? I have even managed to farm some caster bosses with this build quite succesfully. Just drop one of the visages and take along backfire. Any boss (except healers) dead in under a minute. Please note that on the matter of other bosses it all depends on what surrounding enemies there is. I find that bringing along resilient weapon (the one that gives you regen if suffering from a condition or hex) against bosses that causes conditions or casts hexes is a lifesaver, or at least makes things easier.

I tweaked around the build a little this weekend for fun and a farm or two. I was soloing the Pain Eater and the Skill Eater and parts in between pretty succesfully using channeling - 16 rest, 12 chan, bal to insp or ill- my bar looked something like this: arcane, vwk, resilient, vengeful, mend, rift, ancestors, I played around w channeling and visage - both seemed to be fairly effective. focus swapped +27.

It takes a little timing but once mobbed up, you should be able to get off 2 rifts and 2 ancestors if needed. Resilient is great with the ele hexes.

For the two bosses try to get them to seperate as it is much easier. It's almost cat and mouse with them as they will chase you but if you stop for too they pop spirits. Really, you have to stagger pull them and eventually they will die.

Kind of a work in progress, I plan on playing around with it for some more fine tuning. Could probably lose mend after a little practice - resilients conditional nature kept it in for me plus I was just goofing around and needed the crutch...

My dragon root and stone horn collection got a lot bigger...

Heh, for pain eater and skill eater I use basically the same build I use to farm Shreader: Echo, VwK, Vengefull Weapon, Heal of your choice, 2 visages (to use on the way there) and mantra (cant remember name but the one that makes it so you cant be interrupted).

The trick is lure them and get behind the wall. They will not be able to damage you (thought the spirits can be a bit of a pain). Cast empathy, then echo, VwK and move out from behind the wall. Do the normal sequence of VwK all the while spamming vengefull weapon. As soon as all 3 VwK has been cast, move back behind the wall and wait for echo to recharge. Make sure Empathy is always active on one of the bosses. Rinse, repeat and both bosses should be dead in under 5 mins.

One of these days I will get around to creating a thread about the diff boss farming builds available to a rit.

You can farm ettins with this build ?

I've tried but ettins use "Healing Signet"
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Gypsie_Ettin so it is really difficult ?

Just tried Merki the Reaver for the first time, and I managed to kill him and get the green drop. If only I was this lucky with all bosses..

My skillbar:
Echo
VwK
Vengefull Weapon
Mend body and Soul
Empathy
Physical Resistance.
Note that there isnt any other skills, because they are not needed. Alot of disenchant in the area, so didnt even bother with visages.

What I did was to suicide on the shiroken. Once you spawn at shrine, just run all the way till you get to the area that the 3 assassin pop up. Killing everything on the way of course. Kill the group that stands between you and Merki. Just wait for him to get close. Once close hit physical resistance, echo, then VwK once he is within attack range. Now cast empathy and spam vengefull weapon as energy allows. By the time your third VwK is blinking he should be dead.

Enjoy

Unhappy The nerf arrives

Vengeful was Khanhei now counts as AoE and scatters enemies. Tried it with Vermin, and Droks Trolls - can't hold aggro = can't kill toons. I didn't want to waste the 1k to try it in UW.

So, looks like the Vengeful run & the 55/SS duo run are ruined, since now casting SS causes aggro to immediately switch to the necro, and Vengeful won't be able to kill the Smites b/c of scatter.

Looks like farming will be a challenge again instead of a walk in the park.

The price of ecto has already gone from 6.5 to 9.5+ in the last 3 hours or so.
